International aid arrives in Fiji |

Relief operations are underway in Fiji, as the the Red Cross began delivering aid supplies to cyclone-ravaged parts of the country.
A New Zealand airforce plane, carrying aid, arrived in the capital Suva. New Zealand will also help Fijian authorities with aerial damage surveys of remote areas.
The Foreign Minsiter of New Zealand, Murray McCully says his country will make an initial 1-million dollar contribution to relief and recovery efforts in Fiji. Powerful cyclone Tomas swept across parts of the south pacific Island nation earlier this week.
Authorities estimated that there could be up to 150-thousand people effected by the storm.
Aid supplies were loaded onto navy vessels which will carry them to Fiji´s northern and eastern islands.
Cyclone Tomas has weakened and moved further away from inhabited islands. |
