Thai protesters rally
Supporters of deposed premier Thaksin Shinawatra began gathering in the Thai capital Bangkok, ahead of what´s being called a  "million-man march." The mass demonstration, in coming days, is aimed at  forcing the government to call elections.

Chinese red dragons danced around a historical Taksin monument.

And protesters chanted the Buddhist mantra as they started the inaugural ceremony ahead of this weekend´s massive rallies.

Hundreds supporters of Thaksin gathered for ceremonies that took place in five areas in Bangkok.

It in one of the biggest challenges yet to Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva.

Taksin supporters listened to speeches and music over loud-speakers, while waiting for leaders to arrive.

This weekend, hundreds of thousands of Taksin supporters are expected on Sunday in Bangkok.

Many businesses and schools closed in Bangkok, while some companies allowed staff to work from home.

Security forces are guarding state buildings, after the government warned of potential violence.
