Large hailstorm hits Melbourne and more extreme weather is coming
Residents were so amazed by the size of the hail and ferocity that they took images on their mobile phones that have gone all over the world.
The main train station, Southern Cross, did not allow trains to stop for a few hours and the roof was damaged.
The national gallery was also flooded.
The hail left sheets of ice that still remain twelve hours later.
At the height of the storm, power was cut to 100,000 homes and traffic lights disabled.
Over 80 State Emergency Service volunteers have been sent from other states to help clean up flooding after the storm.
The storm closed roads and buildings and left thousands of people stranded on roads.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Kevin Parkin said another storm front was expected to hit over the next 24 hours.
People have been warned to be careful around trees that have loose branches and to stay inside as Parkin warned that the winds could be quite strong.
The S-E-S received 4,200 calls for help until midday Sunday.
Over 25 families are still cut off and isolated and there are still warnings in place so residents are not taking any chances.
