Giorgio Armani and Gucci present their Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 collections

Giorgio Armani showed his take on polished elegance with capes over dresses and flippy skirts.

Square-shouldered jackets over short, semi-wrapped shirts were reminiscent of the 1980s.

Armani´s jackets were also fastened by hooks at the side to create a soft wave effect.

He added colour to his line with plenty of coral red and orange tops, jackets as well as sleeveless dresses covered in tiger print or embroideries.

He used emerald and jade green on velvet skirts and snakeskin jackets.

Armani put toques with strips that lay like a fringe on models´ heads while shoes varied from wedges to spike heels.

For evening wear, there were sleek black velvet dresses with jewel embroidery and buttons that looked like brooches.

At Gucci, designer Frida Giannini drew up the brand´s golden eras of the 1970s and 1990s for her sleek collection, playing up the house´s sartorial skills.

Oversized, deconstructed cashmere coats and collarless cropped jackets were paired with printed silk tops and skinny trousers with folded waists and metal plate belts.

She also mixed leather and fur on jackets.

Figure-hugging dresses with metal collars and cuffs had cuts in various places exposing skin.

They were worn with over the knee suede platform boots.

The designer stuck to white, camel, ice grey, brick, black and tobacco for the colour palette.

Giannini showed patterned chantilly lace dresses decorated with sparkling sequins or embroided with ostrich feathers for evening wear.

Black tuxedo trousers were paired with a mink tanktop with long feathers and a metal harness.

Lace stocking and crocodile sandals completed the look.
