The Anatolia news agency says Tarkan was detained  in a police raid early Friday.

Police reportedly are questioning Tarkan and the others.

But so far, No charges have been filed.

Tarkan has been a chart-topping pop star in Turkey for more than a decade.  His music has also topped pop charts worldwide,

He has sold millions of records in Turkey and his catchy Arabic-influenced tune "Şımarık" -"Spoiled" - reached the top of music charts in France in 1998.

Turkish police often carry out drug operations in Istanbul.

Turkey is often seen as a transit point for drugs between the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
