Patnaik and his team created a mini-stadium with a hockey stick and a seven-feet high World Cup trophy.

It took five hours to build the sand sculpture at Puri beach, in India´s eastern Orissa state.

Patnaik and his team used 20 tons of sand to make the sculpture.

It was signed by several spectators,  who also expressed their wishes for the Indian hockey team.

New Delhi is hosting the 12-team Hockey World Cup between February 28th to March 13th.

The Indian capital is also gearing up for the Commonwealth Games in October.

Indian police have promised "foolproof" security for the men´s Hockey World Cup.

There are security concerns in India after a bomb blast in the western city of Pune, earlier this month.
