A move by 67-year-old El-Baradei could signal that he wants to use his international stature to press for democratic reforms in his home country,

Egypty has been ruled by current President Hosni Mubarak for nearly three decades.

The often outspoken Moussa is a popular figure in the Arab world.

He has also been touted by the media as a possible challenger to Mubarak, but has denied any ambitions to put his name on the ballot.

Moussa and El-Baradei served together in Egypt´s Foreign Ministry.

Their meeting was announced as a meet and greet between two old friends.

The  very public nature of their meeting will undoubtedly lead to speculation that Moussa is offering tacit support to El-Baradei´s criticisms of the Egyptian government.
