Baby giraffe born at zoo
The newest addition to the Niabi Zoo in Illinois is two days old and already stands at nearly two meters tall.

Weighing in at 46 kilos, the male giraffe was born on Sunday after a 14-month gestation.

It was the first birth for his mother, Mimi, who is nearly five meters tall.

The animals are of the reticulated giraffe subspecies, which in nature grazing the treetops of the African savannah.

The calf is scheduled to make its public debut when the zoo reopens in the spring.
