Gere, who is chairman of the International Campaign for Tibet and a close follower of the Dalai Lama, arrived in Gaya to take part in classes and meet the spiritual leader.
He joined over 500 Buddhist monks and thousands visitors from all over the world in the march which was held as part of a prayer meeting for world peace and prosperity.
A devout Buddhist, Gere is involved in several AIDS and orphan charities in India and is a frequent visitor to the country.
Around 50,000 people from around the globe are expected to assemble in Bodh Gaya over the five days to hear the Dalai Lama speak.
